Keepers of the Groves
Always hidden away in the vast forests most call the Groves, the Elven people are a sight to behold, so I hear. Elves don’t tend to stray too far from the comforts of their trees. I’m told by travelers that they build giant cities among the trees, high in the branches of the tallest oaks, and they use magic to bend nature itself to their will. Their massive cities, cast from giant trees deep in the Groves sometimes stretch on for as far and wide as human cities do. I’m also told that the forests have no kings. Instead, they are ruled by a council, a group of the most respected and eldest of their kind. They call this a republic, which is why most of the nobles call them the Elven Republics.
The elves currently dwell within the Varenelle Groves in the West, Aestre Groves in the South, and Calenorn Groves in the North. Overall, the elves are both respected, awe inspiring, and to some extent feared.

Among the elves, I hear that there are also the Fey. I've heard there small, winged people which fly through the forests, using magic to fade in and out of existence. The elves call them Fairies. There are also elves which seem to have grown such a close bond with nature, that they are gifted with the legs of a deer. Some have antlers I hear, and they are all fascinated with music and song. They play their masterfully crafted instruments as they live and play in the forests. The elves call these majestic creatures Centaurs. I hear there are others, but their names are not known to us humans yet.
Children of the Stone
The dwarves, a hard nosed, busy race of miners. I imagine that most nobles wish that their citizens acted more like the dwarves. Most dwarves, from what anyone can remember, are content to stay in their caverns deep in the mountains, in vast cities carved with painstaking precision out of the stone and rock they call home. Each dwarf belongs to what they call a clan, each clan has a craft. This skill is taught to each dwarf from birth, and they toil ceaselessly at it, refining their skill to perfection. This is why the best swords in the realm are often of dwarven make.
Shortly after the wars among the humans first broke out, the dwarves closed the Iron Gates, the main entrance into the dwarven caverns in the Thramnal Mountains, cutting off the way to the City of Herringard, the seat of the dwarven king when last the dwarves spoke to us. No one knows why they closed the Iron Gates, or if someone does they are keeping it secret. There were a few dwarves left behind, some that were outside the gates when they were sealed. They claim they don’t know why the gates were shut either, and they are probably more angry than any man of Norfeld. Now these dwarves serve as bodyguards, warriors for hire, just trying to survive in a world they were thrown into without warning. All any of us know is that the dwarves no longer wish to associate with the world beyond their caves.

The Grey-Skinned Elves
Vile, violent, and temperamental creatures as bloodthirsty as the Monsters themselves, the Orcs are indeed a force to be reckoned with. It is easy to see why the Carish Kingdom decided to enlist their help for their lethality in combat, but they are impossible to control. They are loyal to no one, and they care only for coin, and they take whatever they want, whenever they can. I’ve heard the men in the Carish Armies don’t like having them “on their side” anymore than the enemies like to fight them.
As little as I know, I’m told that most know even less than I do about these monsters. We have no idea where they hail from, and they are not very forthcoming with knowledge. Some of them can barely speak, and some are so deformed they could be mistaken for a Monster. There are a few, some I’ve met, some I’ve heard of, that can speak well and seem at least as intelligent as a human. These orcs seem to be leaders. They are also, usually, the least deformed, the least ugly. Some have even been mistaken for just some kind of grey-skinned human. Perhaps when the wars stop, the orcs could be used to fight the monsters, something tells me pitting one bloodthirsty monster against another might be more effective than barely trained boys against monsters.
